This fall, WISPIRG launched the New Energy Future campaign calling on congressional candidates to support policies to move America beyond oil toward a cleaner energy future.
“There is no question that America has the know-how to reduce our dependence on oil and move toward a cleaner, more secure energy future,” said Bruce Speight, WISPIRG Field Director.
WISPIRG asked all congressional candidates to endorse the New Energy Future plan by committing to support policies that help the United States achieve four key goals: reduce oil consumption by one-third, get 25 percent of our energy from clean, renewable energy sources, reduce energy use 10 percent with efficient buildings and appliances, and double investment in research into the technologies to makes this possible—all by 2025.
WISPIRG secured the support of eight congressional candidates, three of whom were elected—Tammy Baldwin, Ron Kind, and Steve Kagen. |
